Mike Davis Fantasy Football 2021: Changes in ADP, mock draft tracker, training camp updates for Falcons RB

Mike Davis was one of the biggest waiver wire saviors of the 2020 Fantasy Football season after Christian McCaffrey spent the vast majority of the season on the shelf. Those savvy enough to scoop up Davis were treated to borderline RB1 production. Now, joining the Atlanta Falcons, Fantasy managers will have to ask themselves if they want to wager on a 28-year-old running back breaking out and continuing in that trajectory on an Atlanta team that has failed to produce consistent production from one back for a long time now.

2021 Outlook

Mike Davis has flashed at times in his career with both the 49ers and Bears, but it wasn’t until joining Joe Brady’s Panthers offense that we saw his true talent shine. What makes Davis a strong Fantasy asset is his ability to impact the game both as a runner after contact and as a receiving option. He joined an Atlanta offense loaded with talent across the board, and the Falcons didn’t draft a running back but did trade Julio Jones, which could lead to more work for the running game in Atlanta than expected. With a workload similar to the one he took on in 2020 in Christian McCaffrey’s offense, Davis can be an RB1 in 2021, and he’s slam dunk value at his current ADP. Even if unexpected RBs eat into his workload, the offense is likely to be productive enough for Davis to return plus value on his ADP.

Davis’ ADP has begun a steady rise all the way into the fourth round — jumping almost a full round over the last three weeks.

Preseason/Training camp updates

After showing up in excellent shape, Davis has had a solid camp so far and earned the majority of first-team reps. The Falcons signed D’Onta Foreman — A mid-training camp signing usually doesn’t make much of an impact, and there’s no guarantee Foreman even makes the Falcons roster. However, this is a somewhat interesting signing, because Foreman is just a running back; he’s not going to be a third-down option or play on special teams, so if he’s going to have a role, it will be as a rusher. Mike Davis is the presumed starter for the Falcons, but if he falters, maybe Foreman can step in. Foreman hasn’t done much since being a third-round pick in 2017, but he did look decent in a limited role for the Titans in 2020, rushing for 95 yards on 22 carries, but he doesn’t have much Fantasy appeal at this point. Javian Hawkins is still my preferred late-round target from this offense.  (Chris Towers)
